A baby spider monkey in the zoo of Wuppertal.
This half year old female was not accepted by her mother, so an employee of the zoo is raising her by hand. Today they were visiting the little monkey's relatives in the zoo and I had the opportunity to take a photo of the charming little monkey lady outside the zoo's ape house.

Why are they called spider monkeys?

In fact I have no idea.

Wikipedia says "Their disproportionately long limbs and long prehensile tails make them one of the largest New World monkeys and gives rise to their common name."
