The moon just minutes after rising above the horizon around 1 am tonight. The deep yellowish tint comes from air pollution in this urban area.

Notice the shadows of the craters next to the lunar day/night line.

This is my first "serious" shot using my new Minolta AF 500mm mirror reflex lens.

Ha! I was on guard duty about 11:30pm and watched the same scene rise up over the horizon.

Ultra clear shot!

Given the dirty air here (well it's mainly soot micro particles from the Autobahn nearby), the shot was surprisingly clear, yes. Could have been a lot better though if the moon would have been higher above the horizon.
I'm hoping to get a few clearer shots during my vacation to sweden. No industrial pollution and not a single larger town within a 30 miles radius, i.e. no "light pollution" at night.

I hope you had a quiet and eventless night.
