Artist's Comments

This poor fellow settled down near my balcony tonight, apparently to lick his wounds and rearrange his shredded feathers after losing a fight against a rival.
He made a thoroughly exhaused impression on me and did not fly away for quite a while, even after noticing me. After looking me over, he seemed to think "oh what the heck" and staid put. Whatever he's been through, apparently he considered me to be less of a threat.

Anyways I quickly took my pictures and left my balcony to give him some rest. A while later, he was gone, so I hope that he'll recover.
I can now understand why blackbirds in theory can live up to about 20 years but in the wild, they rarely ever reach that age.

Wow, nice clear shot.

Poor bird.
